Gasthaus Hochwang Furna

It is difficult to find the right words when such an important chapter of life comes to an end.

After many adjustments, renovations and changes in concept, we were able to run Gasthaus Hochwang with passion, joy and success. Now it is time for the next chapter of our lives as we enter retirement.

For many years we had the privilege of welcoming, hosting and accompanying people here in Hinterberg. What began as a new chapter gradually became a large part of our lives. This house, the mountains surrounding it and, above all, the many wonderful encounters with our guests and the people of Furna have shaped us deeply.

For us, the Gasthaus was never simply a “workplace.” It was always a place of meeting – a place where people could come together, share stories, laugh, celebrate or simply find a moment of peace. Many guests returned again and again: some became loyal regulars, others even friends. Short visits turned into familiar faces, and simple encounters grew into connections that went far beyond a restaurant visit.

We cherished every one of these moments: the conversations at the table, the long evenings with music, the joy of seeing guests again after a year – or sometimes after many years. Watching people arrive up here, take a deep breath and leave everyday life behind for a while was always something special for us.

Over time, this place became a small home – not only for us, but also for many people who kept returning here.

Now the moment has come for us to open a new chapter. Saying goodbye is not easy, as so many memories and encounters are connected to this house. The years up here were intense, full of hard work and at the same time incredibly beautiful. This house, the mountains and especially the many people we had the pleasure of meeting here will always remain part of our story.

From the bottom of our hearts, we thank everyone who accompanied us along this journey: our guests, friends and companions. We look back with great gratitude on all the shared moments that made this place so special and that will stay with us forever.
